Campfire Craziness

ATTN: Pictures to follow later. I took crappy pictures and need to wait to get my friends.

This weekend some of my roommates and I went camping with some of our guy friends. I was excited about it because I am used to just camping with my family (which is fun and wonderful and very hardcore). I was excited to go with friends, get out of Provo and just relax. We were scheduled to leave at about 5, but didn't get out of town until about 5:30. A few stops later we made it to the campsite.
Shannon and I were very proud of ourselves because we set up the tent without male assistance. We had to prove to them that we could do it. Call it an ego I guess.
We made tin-foil dinners back at the house so the boys built a fire and we cooked dinner. After that we just hung out around the campfire and talked and laughed, and Emerson started whittling me a bird from a piece of wood.
Some funny moments from the night:
1) Alex being high maintenance and having to eat from his mess kit. "I do what I want."
2) Emerson taking time to cook his perfect smore, only to drop it on the ground. He ate it anyway.
3) The rednecks camping next to us. "If you don't stop I'm going to smack your neck!"
4) The retard club
5) Discussing the correct annunciation of certain words...lol!
6) The rednecks riding their four wheelers until all hours of the morning.
7) The drunk 20 somethings above us blaring rap music and the guy from the campsite over coming to tell us to turn our music off.
8) Ernest, the camp caretaker, and his dog Tabby.

After a rousing night of fun, we decided to go to bed. The boys went down to the lake. Pretty sure I have NEVER been as cold as I was last night. Kacey, Shannon and I cuddled the WHOLE night (luckily I was in the middle. I was freezing and let me detail what I had on: a tank top, short sleeve shirt, long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt and coat, jeans and sweatpants, long socks and shoes. To make matters worse we were sleeping on the hard ground and I had to change sides every 10 minutes b/c my hips and legs started to ache. In the morning I literally felt like I had run a marathon my body ached so bad. I think I slept a total of 2 hours. I finally got to sleep at 6am when the sun came out and it started to warm things up.

In the morning we got up, made breakfast, broke camp and came home. I promptly fell asleep for about 3 hours. I loved camping, minus the freezing part.

This just reminded me that I have never been camping before. Ever. Girls camp is a little different then real camping I think. But we aren't a camping family so I have never been able to experience that much fun! Can't wait to see the pictures.
