Last Day

Friday was my last day of real school for the school year (I'm teaching summer school, starting on Monday). I bought doughnuts and milk and we were going to have a very relaxing last hour and a half, at least that's what was planned. Before the kids got there I went to say goodbye to one of my favorite people who is moving and having a child. I gave her a big hug and started crying. We have been through a lot together this year from shopping trips to class together every week, I have truly come to love this amazing woman! After that it was hard to stop. We went out as a school and retired the flag and sang the National Anthem, and I started crying listening to them sing the national anthem in their little voices. My kids were saying goodbye to me on the front lawn of the school and I lost it again when some of them started crying. Poor Edwin was sobbing (keep in mind I'll see him Monday for summer school). Then I really started when Seth (my little boy with Downs Syndrome) came and gave me a big hug and said, "Thanks Peterson". Even his mom was crying! Anyways, I am going to miss these kids, but am glad that I am staying next year to see them!
