Out of the Mouth of Babes

So today my student teacher was doing a great graphing lesson complete with clickers so the kids could pick their answer and see a bar graph of the responses on the projector. Here are some excerpts from the lesson:

One of the questions was about what they wanted to be when they grew up. The choices were:
1) Doctor
2) Teacher
3) Astronaut
4) Truck Driver
One little boy looked at me and said, "I want to be a designer, but I'm going to pick truck driver because that is pretty close to a truck driver!"

Another question was "Do you have a Valentine?" My S.T. said, "Miss Peterson has a valentine this year!" One very funny child replied: "We know. Her valentine is her class!" Good, dodged that bullet and the many questions that could have ensued.

If you ever want to be highly entertained,  come sit in room 122 for a few hours!

Kids Say the Darnest Things

So because I have a student teacher, I get to sit back and listen to all my students brilliant comments. Here are some from today:

We watched the Obama inauguration. There was a picture of the capitol building and I asked them, "What building is that? There is one in every state!" A handful promptly replied... "The temple!"

It's so funny how they parrot what they hear thier parents saying. If moms and dads only knew what their children were saying at school! We were talking about the inauguration and one little boy said, "I'm glad our new President is Obama. He won't make my family go back to Mexico. If John McCain was the President I would have to leave." He pretty much admitted that he's illegal. Gotta love it. 10 minutes after that my student teacher caught him stealing from me. Bless his heart.
