St. George Getaway

Yes, it's true: two getaways in one weekend! I am one lucky girl! Some of my friends were headed down to St. George and they asked me to go along. They were going to see Les Miserables (sp?) at Tuahcan (sp?) so I thought instead of going to the play I would go hang out with my dad's parents. About an hour after I got ho
me from Park City, Jenni and I left to meet our friends for the drive. We stayed at Stacy's parent's house in Hurricane, just a short 15 minutes from St. George.
When we got there on Friday night we just hung out and chatted with her parents. Somehow Jenni and I were the lucky two that got to sleep on the mattress with memory foam. It was another luxurious two nights.
Saturday morning we got up and Stacy's parents had fixed us a yummy breakfast! We then got ready and headed out to the Lytle Nature Preserve. Melissa spent many Summers here as a child and we decided to go visit in honor of her dad. The drive to the preserve was LONG and most of it was on a dirt road, so afterward my car needed a little washing (but I thought it made me look very rugged!) When we got there the care taker met us at the gate with his 12 gage shotgun. The ranch is not open to the public, and he wasn't expecting us. After Melissa explained who we were and what we wanted, he was very friendly, but still kept his 12 gauge near him. We ate pomegranates off the trees, went on a little hike (ok, it wasn't quite the "small scramble up a mountain" as some described it, but it was still a good hike!), and then we took off. Just as we pulled off the dirt road I ran out of window washer fluid, which made the drive back very difficult!

After we got home, had some lunch, and cleaned up, some of us headed to the outlet malls. I was sadly disappointed because they were nowhere near the caliber of the ones in Park City, but I still found a few deals. After that I met up with my Grandparents for dinner at Pizza Factory and a movie. We saw Flyboys, which I have to admit I had some reservations about simply by the title, but the movie was great! I highly recommend it! It was filmed in St. George so my grandparents loved to tell me where the scene was in St. George. After the movie we went to Golden Spoon (Sorry, but I didn't see what everyone raves about! I love the natural frozen yogurt, and this was not it!) After that I hung out at their house while I waited for my friends to get back from their play. We got back to Stacey's at about midnight and it was time for bed.

Sunday we got up, went to church, had a delicious lunch, and headed home. On the way home the drive was nice but as I was driving I was in the left lane and there was a car in the right lane that was slowing and then completely stopping. I said, "Hm, why is that idiot stopping in the middle of the lane?" Then I saw why... a deer jumped right in front of my car. I quickly slammed on the breaks and put out the human arm to prevent Judith, in the passenger seat, from going through the window (as if my arm would have done any good!). Luckily we didn't hit it, but I was pretty shaken up from it. I'm glad to say we made it safely home after that!
My weekend was crazy with Park City and St. George but it was so nice to get away, to be with friends, and to see my Grandparents. Next week it's General Conference and the cabin at Snowbird! I'm excited for another weekend away and to actually be able to go to Conference! I only wish my mom, dad, and Robbie could come! Love you guys!
