Inside Recess and Parent Teacher Conferences

Yes, it's another inside recess, and as I write this I have 15 little ones running around my classroom. I secretly don't mind inside recess because I love to hear the conversations they have with each other when they think I am not listening. They are such little adults. I see myself in some of them. Especially the ones that are trying to organize whole class activity, and the boys are not having it.

I also have parent teacher conferences tonight which will make this a 12 hour work day. Yesterday was the same but I left for lunch, just to get a glimpse of the outside world. Yesterday went fairly well, no mad parents, but most of them are coming today, so we will see. Teaching school is hard for me, being a person who wants everyone to like me. I have learned that there are just some parents who aren't going to agree with you. And when they get mad at me for not speaking Spanish (over half my class has Spanish as a 1st language) I have to bite my tongue and simply smile and say, "Would you like me to get a translator?" Oh the joys of life.

My sister tried out for So You Think You Can Dance yesterday here in Salt Lake. She made it all the way to coreography, but then got cut. She is so well, and we are looking forward to seeing her on the show in a few months. Well, back to work...only 7 more hours of work to go! :)

Oh man, I love little kids, especially when they act like little adults! I hope the parent teacher conferences went well! Just smile and nod your head when you don't understand. It's amazing the looks you'll get! Congrats sis!! I can't wait to see her!

I love that you blogged during recess! You're so funny:) I remember some of those conversations and miss them, this years class is all about playing with the toys they bring from home. Fun.

Uh the endless inside recesses! They aren't the worst thing but they just make the day seem longer I think. Atleast you are all done with this long week of long days. I am feeling better now that I have some medicine. I found out that maternity leave consists of using my sick days and then having a $45 a day deduction...fun. That kinda bugged. Anyway have a wonderfully relaxing weekend!

Gosh Linds didn't you know you're apparently supposed to know Spanish to live in America nowadays? Keep up with the times! I've been thinking about all you teachers the past couple weeks because I've been completing my English 313 class online. It's due on Friday. Yuck. I better get that 10-15 page research paper started! Anyway, tell Kelsey congrats! Can't wait to watch her on the show! Hope you're doing well!

yikes, we had parent-teacher conferences last week too. let's just say: i'm glad they're over! what LONG days. and i have to say, you are better than me! i am NOT a fan of inside recess...5 year olds need to run outside and chase each other- otherwise they do it in my classroom ALL DAY. therefore, inside recesses are my arch-nemesis.

love reading your blog- i totally relate to 99% of what you blog about! what a fun way to be connected.
